House and bedrooms

Occupied until 1789 by the canonesses
Marie Gabrielle and Marie Anne de Pons-Praslin

La Chanoinesse

Welcome to the eighteenth century!

Canonesses, what are you becoming?

If the Revolution hunted and sometimes imprisoned you, we want to revive your presence in a house that is not "family" but our exclusive passion for the eighteenth century pushes us to fill our home with period furnitures's in order to create an atmosphere from the "Old Regime" in the calm of the noble Chapter and cottage garden, punctuated only day and night by the bell of the Priory to remind us that the residents of Cluny have slept here since the twelfth century.

Social life and the education of your "nieces" occupied your daily life and are reflected today in the large living room and a room devoted entirely to a Cabinet of curiosities.

...and a Cabinet of curiosities

The Cabinet of curiosities was invented in the fifteenth century to marvel at the wealth and quirks of nature but also to meditate on the fragility of life.
